Browse your Aperture library

The Special menu lets you have your Aperture library always to hand, so that you can browse projects and albums, preview photos, audio files, and videos, view metadata and keywords, and copy photos.

To browse your Aperture library:

Add the Aperture Library item to the Special menu: open the Application Wizard pane in System Preferences, click Menus, and click the Customize Menus button. In the dialog that appears, click Special. Click the Add (+) button at the bottom of the list and choose Aperture Library to add the item to the menu.

Then display the Special menu and select the Aperture Library item.

  • To open Aperture, choose Aperture Library from the Special menu.

  • To preview a photo, a video, or an audio file, select it in the Aperture Library submenu. To view the associated metadata, display the More Info submenu.

  • To copy a photo, display the Copy submenu and choose a size from the Image submenu.

    Copy pictures to the Clipboard

  • To display the number of versions in your projects, albums, books, light tables, slideshows, web journals, web pages, and galleries choose Show Number of Versions in the Aperture Library submenu.

Note: Shared photos cannot be viewed using Application Wizard.

If the Aperture Library submenu is outdated or unavailable despite your Aperture library is not empty, open the Previews pane of the Aperture Preferences window and make sure that you always share XML with other applications and that you are maintaining previews for all your projects.
